After your race is over, when you have completed that 26.2/13.1 mile journey, it’s time to enjoy what we locals call “The SLO Life.” It has all to do with people, places and things that evoke a state of mind. It’s relaxed, there’s no need to rush. You’ve earned this. It’s opening a bottle of wine with friends, savoring fantastic gourmet food prepared with fresh local produce, listening to lively music, all while enjoying a beautiful California day. It’s a stroll through a Farmer’s Market, sampling food and appreciating the works of local artisans. Maybe it’s a glass of hand-crafted beer paired with locally-fresh artisan cheese, bread and chocolate. It’s a hike, a bike ride, a paddle, a surf and a kite. It’s a friendly face, a welcoming hospitality and new acquaintances. It’s a vista, wildflowers and a sunset over the majestic San Luis Obispo Morros. It’s all this and so much more… and it all begins when your race ends at the “The SLO Life Expo.”

Keeping It Green
We want to keep our footprints on the road and make them as light as possible. The SLO Marathon, Half & 5K Races are on Earth Day 2012, so naturally, we’re taking steps to make our race and Expo green and sustainable. We've pledged to Athletes For A Fit Planet 14 eco-sustainable practices. And, we have required our vendors to supply only recyclable materials – from cups, dishes and utensils to the power we are using to generate electricity for the stage and all vendor booths. In addition, participant tech t-shirts are made from recycled materials. We all love our Mother – Earth that is and we honor her at the SLO Marathon.
