The San Luis Obispo Marathon + Half presented by LeftLane Sports has teamed with San Luis Sourdough and Kid’s Running America to provide an interactive online program that gets children, ages 7-14 years, walking and running a progressive marathon over a multi-week period. The culmination of their marathon is a 1.2 mile run/walk at the San Luis Obispo Marathon + Half on Saturday, April 26, 2014.

Each child receives:

  • Provides an online program that rewards accomplishment one mile at a time, provides nutrition tips, coupons for goodies from sponsors and fun running facts.
  • A cotton t-shirt and a race bib for registering

    The new Children’s Marathon Challenge, sponsored by San Luis Sourdough is a great program that will:

  • Let’s parents and their children get active together, enjoy the outdoors and accomplish a goal.
  • Builds habits of regular exercise for a healthy lifestyle, makes exercise fun and fights obesity.
  • Rewards their effort with participation at a world-class event with their peers and a medal that is earned. They will run on the Madonna Inn property to the cheers of thousands of spectators!

    Race Rules


    The Full Marathon has a capacity of 2000 athletes, the Half Marathon has a capacity of 6,000 athletes and the 5K has a capacity of 1000 athletes. When your entry is submitted, no refund or rollover will be given if you cannot participate. Registration for the SLO Marathon, Half Marathon and 5K closes 11:59 p.m. on March 22, 2013. The race(s) take place rain or shine.


    We adhere to the standard marathon running industry policy. All entry fees are non-refundable. This is noted on our registration application and, when you register for any of our events, you must agree to this policy. You may transfer your registration to another person. You will be charged $10 for the change and a processing fee and a refund of the registration fee minus the change fee and processing will be refunded to you. The person you are giving your registration spot will be charged the registration fee at the time of the processing. Race changes and transfers deadline is March 1, 2013. If a race reaches capacity, race changes and transfers will cease. You may not sell your number to another individual – if you do this could result in your disqualification as well as the runner who uses your race number. The entry fee for this year’s event will NOT transfer to next year’s event, no exceptions. This policy stays in effect whether you are injured, have unexpected business or family emergency, pregnancy, etc. There are NO exceptions.


    Runners may request an event change or transfer their registration to another individual based on event availability. There will be a $10.00 event change fee for any event change or transfer, plus any additional registration fees if you are switching to a more expensive event. All event change and transfer requests can be submitted online through Active.com until March 1, 2013. Change and transfer requests will automatically close once a race has sold out. Event change requests will only be accepted until March 1, 2013. You should automatically receive a confirmation from Active.com once your request has been processed. If you do not receive a confirmation email, please email us at info@slomarathon.com.
