  • If you have a group waiting for you, you'll get out of bed on numerous days you wouldn't.

    Hi, my name is Patty Van Belleghem and I have lived on the central coast for the last 20 years, employed at Cal Poly during that time. In 2005 while working full-time, raising a family and completing my Master’s Degree, I decided to attempt at least one marathon in my lifetime. Not having been an athlete in high school and having minimal running experience I went on line, searched and analyzed different training methods for first time marathoners. The Galloway method caught my eye and after reading reviews and reviewing the training schedule I decided to use the Galloway Method as it would fit into my hectic life and allow me to build up my running mileage at a reasonable pace. The Galloway Method allowed me to successfully complete my first marathon, Big Sur, and has inspired me to run several more marathons and half marathons.     In order to participate in the marathon training, you must be able to run/walk 9 miles comfortably at the start of training.
