THE SAN LUIS OBISPO MARATHON + HALF ANNOUNCES ROAD CLOSURES FOR THE INAUGURAL RACE ON SUNDAY, APRIL 22

Select Streets in the City, Downtown Area, Edna Valley and Marsh Street Entrance and Exit Ramps @ Highway 101 Will be Closed

San Luis Obispo, CA – The San Luis Obispo Marathon + Half announces the road closures for the Inaugural race that takes place on Sunday, April 22, 2012 from 5 a.m. to 2 p.m. Below is the list and detailed times for the 26.2 mile street closures. The entire course roads will be closed to all vehicles, with the exception of marathon staff, emergency and special needs citizens at the below listed times. Please reference your area on the overall course map, along with the detailed road closure listing to see how you will be affected.

California Street- Closed from San Luis Drive to Monterey Street

Monterey Street- Closed from California Street to Chorro Street

Chorro Street- Closed from Palm to Marsh Street

Higuera Street- Closed from Morro Street to Marsh Street

Marsh Street- Closed from Higuera Street to Nipomo Street

Nipomo Street- Closed from Monterey Street to Marsh Street

Buchon Street- Closed from Nipomo Street to Santa Rosa Street

Santa Rosa Street- Closed from Buchon Street to Marsh Street

Marsh Street- Closed from Santa Rosa Street to Johnson Avenue

Johnson Avenue- Closed from Marsh Street to San Luis Drive

Closed- 6am- 8am

Johnson Avenue- Restricted traffic from San Luis Drive to Orcutt Road

Closed – 6am-1pm

Orcutt Road- Closed to traffic from Johnson Avenue to Tank Farm Road

Closed – 6am-12:45pm

Orcutt Road- Closed to traffic from Tank Farm Road to Biddle Ranch Road

Biddle Ranch Road- Closed from Hwy. 227 to Orcutt Road

Osos Street- Closed from Jennifer Street Bridge to Santa Barbara Street

Closed - 6am-1:30pm

Santa Barbara Street- Closed from Osos Street to Islay Street

Closed - 6am – 1:45pm

Islay Street- Closed from Santa Barbara Street to High Street

Closed – 6am-2pm

High Street – Closed from Islay Street to Archer Street

Closed – 6am-2pm

Archer Street- Closed from High Street to Marsh Street

Closed from 4am– 3pm

Marsh Street- Closed ramps @ Hwy 101

For the safety of the 2,800 runners and walkers participating, the marathon staff appreciates your support in finding alternate routes. The marathon and half marathon courses will be staffed all day by the San Luis Obispo Police Department and California Highway Patrol officers, as well as hundreds of volunteer Course Marshalls and Traffic Control.

We invite our neighbors and community to come out to support and cheer on our athletes as they make their way through our beautiful town. The public is also invited to the finish line and SLO Life Expo at the Madonna Inn/ Madonna Meadows.
